Cut for tl;dr, snark, rage, inexcusably cheap shots, and John Cornyn.
Dear Ms. [Chaobell]:
Thank you for contacting me regarding the current policy on abortions in Department of Defense (DoD) medical facilities. I appreciate having the benefit of your comments on this matter.
As you may know, there is currently a prohibition on abortions in Department of Defense medical facilities. The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2011 (S. 3454), as reported out of the Senate Armed Services Committee, contains language that would repeal this prohibition and allow abortions to be performed “on demand” at DoD facilities.
Yes sir, this would be why I contacted you in the first place, because the current prohibition sucks and I want it to go away.
On January 22, 1973, the United States Supreme Court concluded in Roe v. Wade that a woman’s decision to carry her pregnancy to term or abort her pregnancy falls within a right to privacy guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution. Simply stated, the Court’s decision created a previously unrecognized legal right to privacy and severely restricted states’ ability to regulate abortion.
I strongly believe that the Roe v. Wade majority substituted its own will for that of the American people.
You say this like restricting the states’ ability to tell women what they can and cannot do with their own uteri is a bad thing. (protip: it is not) And it didn’t substitute its will for mine.
Though Roe v. Wade remains the law of the land, I am committed to building a culture of life in America. Every life is a precious gift from God
Until birth, anyway…
and we must protect those who cannot protect themselves
Unless that person is a woman seeking a perfectly goddamn legal medical procedure…
ensuring—from conception to natural death—that every human being is treated with the dignity and respect he or she deserves.
As long as that human being is rich, straight, white, cis male, and Christian.
Therefore, I do not support the repeal of the DoD’s current prohibition, and I voted against the motion to proceed to consideration of S. 3454.
Therefore, I do not support your face, how about that.
You may be certain that I will continue to work within the law to see that all human life—from conception to natural death—is treated with the dignity and respect it deserves.
As long as that human life is rich, straight, white, etc. dude do you even read the words you are writing here actually no it’s probably an aide what actually wrote this shit but never mind that.
I appreciate having the opportunity to represent the interests of Texans in the United States Senate. Thank you for taking the time to contact me.
As long as those Texans are–look you get the point already. Thank you for locating the nearest tack and sitting on it.
Sincerely,
JOHN CORNYN
United States Senator
